Hello and thank you for checking out my auction for the 1/100 scale HG V-Dash Gundam model kit from Bandai of Japan. This is the powered-up version of the titular mecha from the anime series Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, the last Gundam series set in the Universal Century universe to be directed by series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino before Gundam became a catch-all for mecha shows from Sunrise regardless of who directed or what the show is about.

This is a 1993 original issue made by Bandai of Japan. Some of the parts were created via Bandai’s then-new System Injection technology, which allows parts of different colors to be molded on the same runner, with some parts including multiple pre-molded colors which eliminates the need of painting. This process proved to be quite costly (as the runner has to be ran thru the mold and be injected as many times as there are colors for the parts) and Bandai eventually tried to scale down/phase out the use of System Injection in their later Gundam model kits in an effort to reduce the associated labor costs.

The V-Dash Gundam was developed utilizing the concept of mission-specific modules that was first applied to the Gundam F-90. Basically the same old V Gundam with additional firepower and thrusters via the Overhang Pack, it features a modified Core Fighter which is docked with the Overhang Pack that becomes the V-Dash Gundam’s backpack mounted beam cannons and additional thrusters and verniers to improve its speed. A mega beam rifle is included, allowing the V Gundam to snipe at targets from an extended range. Originally piloted by the show’s main character Usso, it was later given to the Shrike Team when Usso traded up to the V2 Gundam.

Here are some of the features of this High Grade (HG) V Gundam model kit:

- Variable (transformable) design allows the mecha to split from mobile suit mode into its 3 modules – Top Fighter, V-Dash Core Booster and Bottom Fighter, just like in the anime. Please note some part swapping is involved.

- System Injection molded parts and stickers minimize the need to paint the completed model kit

- Snap fit kit = no need for cement

- polycaps allow for action figure style poses

- Clear-blue part used for the Core Fighter’s canopy to reveal the cockpit’s interiors, including the pilot

- accessories include beam rifle, a pair of beam sabers (different designs, both molded in clear pink), beam shield and mega beam rifle

- includes optional parts to build the model as the V Gundam Hexa, the upgraded version of the V Gundam that was originally assigned to squad commanders but end up phasing out the standard issue V Gundam altogether as the mass produced V Gundam

Kit is brand new unbuilt with all the parts still sealed in factory original plastic bags. Box shows some wear from storage and age (this is a 1993 original issue), most notably some crease lines along the edge and side panel.
